motorcycle workshop manuals

Instruction Books:- Always useful, though they vary greatly in content, some are very basic whilst others are extremely comprehensive.
motorcycle factory manuals Workshop Manuals:- Not published until after 1940 - originally published for the use of Army workshops and then after the war the major manufacturers published them for use by motorcycle shops. However even after the war, many manufacturers did not publish any workshop manuals.
Illustrated Parts Books:- Very useful indeed when searching for missing or replacement parts. Pre-war books used line drawings or photographs of the parts, but after 1945 many manufacturers used "exploded" drawings which are a great help in showing the correct order of assembly and many of these drawings are correctly proportioned and enable the restorer to make unobtainable parts.
Annual Sales Catalogues:- Almost every manufacturer issued an annual catalogue or brochure, usually illustrating every model in his range for the coming year and giving a very useful specification of the major components. workshop manuals

Photocopies of these are sometimes difficult to produce due to layout on a large sheet or because in later years colour was often used for background, making it difficult to read. We are only able to copy in black and white but most illustrations were in black and white anyway and the high quality copier used is able to produce very good illustrations from all catalogues.

We recommend that you obtain all the items that are listed on your machine as an illustrated spares book backed by a factory manual and sales catalogue help to determine the exact and true specification of a model. This is so important when restoring to original condition, or enabling you to maintain it in good riding condition.
